Letters from Home: More about Dino from Ecuador!

Letter from Home update:
“Dear Toni,
I just wanted to take this time to give you an update on our sweet boy Dino. It’s been about 21/2 months now and it seems that our little boy is adjusting just fine. It has taken time (which was to be expected), but Dino opens up more and more every day. After I spoke with you a couple of weeks ago, worried that Dino didn’t have a voice, he barked the very next day! My husband was outside while Dino and I sat on the living room couch. Oliver (hubby) decided to peek through the window at us. Dino was not expecting this (nor I) and he growled and barked at him. We were soooo proud of him! It is so pleasant to have a dog that is not a yapper, but it is quite comforting to know that he is a protector.

Dino and Bridget are two peas in a pod. They love to hike, sleep and eat together. They give each other kisses in the morning and Bridget loves to nip at his muzzle to get him to play. My husband and I are thrilled to see Dino become a part of our family each and every day. He loves a nice belly rub…actually he loves any contact whatsoever. If you stop petting him, he nudges your hand and makes you pet him. He also will put his paw on your lap or face if he wants to be extra cute! I think his favorite thing to do though is to follow me EVERYWHERE I go. He is my adorable shadow:)
Dino loves to ride in the car. He knows that this means we are going for a nice hike. I can’t wait until Thanksgiving when we drive to Michigan. Everyone is excited to meet our new baby boy. I recently took Dino and Bridget to Barktoberfest in Putnam Valley and was relieved to know that Dino is good with new dogs, adults and children. Dino is still shy, don’t get me wrong, but he is never ever aggressive. I am completely confident with Dino around children which is a relief since we plan on having some ourselves someday. The kids and adults thought Dino had the perfect temperament (Bridget too). He just sat there and let everyone pet him. I guess he didn’t have much to complain about.
Anyway, thank you for bringing Dino into our lives. He makes us smile every day:) I don’t know what we would do without him. We no longer have our apartment in the city, so you must come visit us in the country one day. ”
