Ecua-dogs arrive after tragedy

Hi all,

Pepita, Buddy, Camila and Matilda arrived at La Guardia on the 26th.

Pyul, who adopted Dino from Ecuador last year and is a great supporter, volunteer and sponsor of our upcoming May 23rd Spring Fling, is fostering our sweet and gentle Pepita who last night was invited to sleep with Pyul and her husband Oliver, as well as with Dino and Bridget, their sweet female terrier mix. Pepita is a Senior dog who needs a very special home with a yard. She loves people, dogs and cats!

Buddy went to a fantastic foster home with Nikole, our newest foster volunteer who is doing an awesome job with socializing and housetraining. She too invited Buddy to sleep with her last night and reports that Buddy is doing great indoors and outdoors. Nikole sent pictures already which will soon be posted here on our blog.

Camila struck gold with Santa and Anthony, a very caring and loving family from Staten Island where Camila will have access a huge fenced-in yard and home cooked meals! She has already explored the entire yard and has figured out that the yard is where she should be doing it. Santa will soon send us pictures of Camila in her new home.

Matilda found her forever home with Kat who shares a home in New Jersey with her boyfriend George.

Thank you all for your support!

Update on the poisoned Ecua-dogs

Just wanted to let you know that Hugo is doing better - he is a fighter!. He was able to lift his head, and move a little. He was even able to eat a small piece of bread.

Hugo is a shep mix, about 50lbs….very determined to live. Linda will be feeding him and the others beef and chicken liver to help promote hemoglobin, and is injecting them with vitamin K and B-complex to fight the toxins from the poison….and for other medical/technical reasons I dont quite understand.

Unfortunately, we lost Reflauta this morning. She was a small shep mix, six years of age. But the rest are doing well and we expect them to fully recover.

Thank you again for your continued support, and for all your individual messages of love and hope.

With love,
Toni

Amigo Fiel Dogs Poisoned Last night

It’s with tremendous sadness that I have to tell you all that the Ecua-Dogs still looking for homes were poisoned last night by unknown assailants. We need your heart and prayers right now for those dogs who have not passed. PLEASE send all your love and prayers to these incredible survivors.

Here are the dogs before the poisoning: http://www.freewebs.com/amigofielecuador/dogs.htmPamela stray dog from Ecuador

Pamela died already, but the others are holding on. The biggest problem is that there is no real medical care down there to help them. The need blood transfusions and real help, but there are no real vets down theree to do anything. They are all just on IVs and we are waiting to see if they make it.

Luckily Tommy was just flown over last Wed, so he is safe. Sadly, the rest are not.

Unfortunately, there is not a whole lot you can do at this point to help these beautiful dogs, but pray and send all the well wishes you have in your hearts! Please pray especially hard for Gracie and Hugo. We had planned on bringing these fantastic, friendly and loving pups over in the next few weeks and then this happened. Gracie Ecua-dog poisoned

We do not know who did this evil thing or why. I personally can’t begin to understand the hate and heartless type of human who would perpetuate such cruelty on any other living being. It hurts my soul.

Sandy Marks on Fox for Stray from the Heart

Sandy Marks is a comedian who does gigs all over the U.S., including Vegas. He fostered Frankie, a beautiful Husky pup we rescued as stray in Queens last year. He is now fostering Tatiana, another Husky from the ACC’s euth list.

He loves Stray from the Heart so much that when he went on Fox TV to be a sports announcer for one show, he demanded that SFTH’s name appear on the screen during his interview. How much heart is that!? The most :)
