Samantha
We are pleased to announce the successful adoption of another Ecuadorian rescue dog! One-year old Samantha is well-adjusted and basking in the love of her new owners, Nicki and Tal.
After only four months in New York, Samantha is already a real city girl --- she can't wait for her daily visit to the dog run where she's quite the social butterfly. "Samantha gets along with all the other dogs at the dog run," writes Nicki. "She is amazing and we love her. She is so well-behaved and well-trained."
In addition to making friends with other neighborhood dogs, Samantha has a gentle way with children. Even on busy city streets, Samantha is a total sweetheart with kids, stopping for a hello and scratch behind the ears. "We trust her 110% with children. When Tal and I eventually have children, I know Samantha will be the perfect family dog."
With the love and support of Nicki and Tal, Samantha has grown comfortable with her surroundings. Samantha's personality has emerged and is it ever endearing! She is mild-mannered and loves to be around people. Her little quirks, like her disproportionately large paws and wide grin, are always a topic of conversation when new people meet Samantha.
Nicki writes, "I can only say great things about Samantha, Stray from the Heart, and of course, Toni, who made it all possible."
What makes this success story even sweeter is that Samantha's little brother, Mario, has also been recently adopted into a loving family. Check back with us for Mario's story, coming soon!
Letter from Home:
... I recently checked out the Strayfromtheheart website and noticed that Mario had been rescued! I am so happy. One day Samantha will have a play date with her little brother.
Anyway, Samantha has been really really good. She is totally in love with me (still a little strange with adults, even Tal, my boyfriend), but she is great with children and other dogs now!!! I take her to the dog run almost everyday so she is getting plenty of exercise and socialization. She also has great bladder control now too (always lets me know if/when she has to go when its an emergency!).
During the day she is allowed to roam free in our apartment. At night, we keep her in the crate (although she would much rather prefer to be in bed with us). Every so often we let her on it with us (but she keeps us up all night with her fidgeting). We find it endearing, but at the same time we find that it can cause us some sleep deprivation.
On the street, we always get compliments, especially when she shows off her kid-friendly skills to parents. People always comment on her ears, her disproportionally large paws, and her smile (yes, she does smile!). She is really quite good (and quirky) and we couldn't be happier. When Tal and I eventually have children in the future, I know she will be the perfect family dog.
