Adoptions - Adopt a Friend
Petra

Petra - Dog adoption success story We pulled Petra (formerly "Diamond") from the Brooklyn ACC euthanasia list two weeks before Christmas -- she spent three weeks at the 5th Ave Vet Specialist with a severe case of pneumonia, was on oxygen therapy for four days and medicated with various antibiotics until recently.

Maria, her new mom, is the head vet tech who nursed her and prayed for her during her stay at the clinic. Petra bonded with Maria, who quickly realized that this beautiful Rottie was meant to be her forever companion.

Here is Maria's letter from home, with some heart warming pictures.
Toni

LETTER FROM HOME:

...as you can see from the attached pictures Petra is doing really great. She seems to be feeling a lot better, not really coughing anymore. She is eating like a horse and she is sleeping a lot. She is already being spoiled by my fiancee who has gone out and bought her a new bed, new bowls and plenty of toys. For her first three nights she has spent two nights in my bed with me (my fiancee on the couch) Petra - Dog adoption success story and last night on the couch w/my fiancee. She is seeming to adjust to both Astoria, where we spent the first two nights and now in Connecticut where she will be most of this week. For the next two months she will be traveling back and forth between the two homes but the majority of the time with me in Astoria.

We really have fallen in love with her, Toni. She is an amazing dog with so much love to give. She is getting acquanted with friends and family and everyone loves her. I have been feeling so much happier since she has come into my life.

My fiancee and I are doing our research on the breed and he is looking into training courses for her, which we will like to start as soon as she is feeling 100%. Petra - Dog adoption success story

I want to thank you for saving her and seeing what a wonderful dog she could be. Although some people have said that this wasn't the right time to get another dog (with the wedding and the move), myself and my fiancee couldn't of thought of a better time. She has come into our hectic lives and has allowed us to relax and enjoy ourselves again.

I will continue to send pics of her and keep you updated. We probably will also be in touch with you during the summer when we decide to adopt another dog.

Thanks again.

Regards,
Maria
