Adoptions - Adopt a Friend
Maizie - Safe and Sound

Stray Spaniel Mazie's new home Alexandra adopted Maizie who arrived from Ecuador several months ago -- she now lives in Manhattan. As it is the case with some Ecuador dogs who have been victims of neglect or abuse, Maizie was very timid and somewhat frightened of the outside world. But as a result of Alexandra's patience and commitment to show her that humans can be trusted, and that the outside world is safe, she is now a well adjusted pup who loves people and enjoys long walks. Just look at that wonderful picture....she is such a pretty and happy dog!

Letter from Home:

Here is a recent picture of Maizie (adopted on October 10, 2006) and me. I've now had her for 5 months and it has brought me more joy than words can express. Though she started off shy and skittish, she has blossomed into quite a personality and wins over everyone she meets.

Maizie LOVES snow - she literally climbed to the top of every snowbank there was and loved walking on it (funny for a warm-weather dog!). And she is very playful, always ready to roll over for a belly rub. What a delight - I learn more about her every day as her personality evolves and shines through. I could not have asked for a better dog!!!!

About Canine Amigos
Maizie came from our Canine Amigo's from Ecuador project. If not for caring, devoted groups like Amigo Fiel in Ecuador, sweet little dogs like Maizie would not have a chance to survive. We hope you consider, when thinking of adopting a special furry companion into your life, a Canine Amigo as your new best friend.
