Lucita found what she was looking for!
Lucita was a stray for seven years, eating out of garbage cans and
looking for a loving home at every corner, even though she is blind in
one eye. Luckily, she stumbled onto the home of a volunteer for Amigo
Fiel shelter in Quito, Ecuador and was then adopted by a retired
couple in Vermont.
Letter from Home:
"Lucita now has 7 siblings, 4 cats and 3 dogs.
She is the brightest, quick to catch on, incredible loving dog. We
didn't know what to expect from a dog who had spent seven years on
the street. She is a wonder.
She hasn't been groomed yet as we are still buried in snow, which
she doesn't mind at all. I now have to carry her bed into our room at
night as she prefers to be near us. During the day, she prefers the
woodstove in the livingroom.
This has been a new adventure for all of us. The adoption went
smoothly and Toni was so wonderful throughout the entire process.
I would not hesitate to adopt from Ecuador again and would be willing
to speak to anyone by phone or email who had questions and wanted
information from someone who had been through it.
I would also like to mention that our poodle-mix dogs have been living
to 17 and 18 years. They kid me at the Vet Clinic about my "nursing
home". Hopefully Lucita will have the same opportunity.
God bless you all!"
About Canine Amigos
Lucita came from our Canine Amigo's from Ecuador project. If not for caring, devoted groups like Amigo Fiel in Ecuador, sweet little dogs like Lucita would not have a chance to survive.
