Letters from Home

Dylan's first owner was an elderly man in Jamaica Queens, who could no longer take care of him.

His mama was a 44 lbs Lab/Border Collie and Papa was an 88lbs Rottie mix.

The most quiet and shy pup of a 7 puppy litter, he was very attached to his brothers and sisters. It was important that his adoptive home provided guidance, as well as that brotherly/sisterly love. Enter Carol Hirsh.

Carol already had a two year-old Lab mix Georgia, and at first Georgia had to establish her "Alpha" dog/big sister status. Once the pecking order was established, the loving relationship, part mother and part sister, could flourish, and has since then.

These days Carol is thankful to Beth for helping her find Dylan and tells us Dylan is doing great, all 54lbs of him.

"He's a real snuggler and loves to sleep next to me and/or on top of Georgia in the bed. He talks non-stop when he wakes up (woo-woo-woo, wooo, woo, woof... like that), chases his toys around with us until he tires himself out and goes back to sleep. He adores playing fetch, and keep away. He's a beautiful boy."

Carol also tell us that Dylan LOVES the snow - (well actually, loves the snow, hates the salt.) Poor little fella! Carol had to carry all 54 lbs of him home during our March 16th snowfall, because his little feet were irritated from the salt. Once his feet are washed off he jumps right into bed with his sister Georgia.

A very happy ending. Dylan will be 10 months this week.

Carol is an incredible mother and has become a major volunteer and contributor for Stray from the Heart. We look forward to seeing her, Dylan, and Georgia at our fashion show this April!
